Somerley, Georgian country house in Ellingham, England.
Somerley is a Georgian country house in Ellingham, Hampshire, England, set within a large estate of parkland and woodland. The main residence includes a long picture gallery, and several additional buildings are scattered across the grounds.
Samuel Wyatt designed the house in 1795 in the Georgian style. In the early 1800s, the Normanton family took ownership and made it their family seat.
Somerley has been used as a filming location for television productions, including period dramas where its rooms and grounds served as sets. Walking through the property today, visitors can see how the various spaces lend themselves naturally to on-screen storytelling.
The property offers three separate accommodation options suited to groups of different sizes. The grounds can be visited year-round, though the best time to enjoy the outdoor areas is during the warmer months when daylight lasts longer.
The grounds can host several film sets at the same time, meaning different productions sometimes shoot side by side on the property. As a result, historic rooms and working film equipment often share the same space.
