St Andrew's Church, Bywell

The stone structure features a cruciform plan with a nave, chancel, transepts, chapel, vestry, south porch, and west tower with round-headed windows.

The tower dates from 850 as a defensive structure, with the upper section added in the early 11th century and modifications continuing through 1871.

The interior displays a mosaic reredos depicting Saints Peter and Paul, along with a Saxon cross set in a Roman stone block.

The church became part of the Churches Conservation Trust in 1975, ensuring its preservation as a Grade I listed building.

The sanctuary contains brass communion rails, a carved pulpit with Frosterley Marble shafts, and a stone eagle-shaped lectern.
