St Andrew's Church, Frenze, Medieval church in Frenze, Norfolk, England.
St Andrew's Church is a medieval church building in Frenze with stone walls and Gothic architectural features. The structure has a nave without a chancel, a Tudor-era brick porch supported by buttresses, and a bell-cote placed on top of the roof.
The building was constructed around 1350 during the medieval period and later received Grade I listed status for its architectural qualities. Seven brass memorials of the Blennerhassett family are located inside, marking their connection to the church over generations.
The church holds wooden benches from the 15th century with detailed carvings, including two monkeys carved into the pew ends. These figures show the craftsmanship and sense of humor that existed in sacred spaces at that time.
The church sits about one mile northeast of Diss near Frenze Hall and is easy to reach for visitors in the area. The interior can be explored on most days, though it is worth checking ahead if you plan to visit at a particular time.
Inside the church stands an octagonal font from the 14th century, a rare example of medieval craftsmanship in religious objects. The bell-cote houses a bell cast by Joseph Goldsmith in 1707, adding a distinctive piece to the building's collection.
