St Peter's Church, Minshull Vernon, Anglican church in Minshull Vernon, England.
St Peter's Church is a stone building in the Gothic Revival style with pointed arches creating its framework and internal spaces. The structure contains a four-part nave, a chancel, a north transept, a south vestry, and a double bellcote that sits on the western gable.
The building was constructed between 1847 and 1849 under the direction of architect John Matthews with financial support from the Church Building Commission. This period marked the height of Victorian church construction across England.
Inside you will find carved wooden details such as an oak pulpit and an eagle-shaped lectern, along with stained glass windows that fill the church with colored light. Some of these windows came from a Congregational church in another village, showing how communities moved their treasured pieces to new homes.
The church sits in a small village and is easy to spot thanks to its distinctive Gothic design standing out from nearby buildings. Regular services take place here, so visiting times may vary depending on worship schedules and special events.
The churchyard holds the war grave of a First World War soldier on its eastern side, serving as a quiet memorial. This burial place connects the village to the broader history of the conflict and reminds visitors of the costs paid locally.
