St Mary's Church, Wilton, Medieval church structure in Market Place, Wilton, England
St Mary's Church is a church building in Wilton that survives only in fragments today. From the original structure, the chancel, a section of the nave, and parts of the side arcades remain standing.
The church was built in 1401 and served the community as a place of worship for centuries. When a new parish church was built nearby in 1845, much of the original building was demolished.
The church displays memorial stones and monuments that recall the lives of Wilton's residents over time. These inscriptions tell personal stories of people who lived in this place across different periods.
The church sits about 3 miles west of Salisbury and is easy to reach. Parking is available in the surrounding area, and the paths are accessible for all visitors.
A former bishop named Robert de Bingham was connected to an earlier church building at this site. His career later led him to work on completing Salisbury Cathedral.
