St. Mary the Virgin Church, Uttoxeter, Anglican parish church in Uttoxeter, England.
St. Mary the Virgin Church is an Anglican parish church in Uttoxeter featuring a prominent tower and spire on Bridge Street. The nave was rebuilt in 1828 and the chancel completed in 1877, giving the building its current form.
The tower and spire were designed by medieval architect Henry Yevele in the 14th century, forming the oldest part of the building. The interior underwent major alterations later, with the chancel extension in the late 19th century marking a significant transformation.
The church houses eight bells in its tower, including six cast by Abraham Rudhall in 1729 and two more by John Warner & Sons in 1874. These bells continue to shape the sound of the town today.
The church is easily accessible as it sits on Bridge Street and is straightforward to reach on foot. Sunday services occur at 9:30 am during the first four weeks of each month, with additional evening services at 6 pm on the first three Sundays.
The pipe organ was built by William Hill & Sons and sits in a gallery specifically added during the chancel extension in the late 19th century. This arrangement shows how the church's renovations fundamentally changed its interior structure.
