Blue Planet Aquarium, Public aquarium in Ellesmere Port, England.
The Blue Planet Aquarium contains a 71-meter underwater tunnel allowing visitors to observe marine species swimming overhead in a 4-million-liter tank.
The facility opened its doors in July 1998 as the largest aquarium in the United Kingdom, with Queen Elizabeth II presiding over the inauguration ceremony.
The educational programs include specific talks about pelicans, octopuses, and venomous creatures, teaching visitors about marine biology and environmental protection.
The aquarium provides annual memberships, scheduled diving experiences with sharks, and operates multiple daily presentations in the dedicated Aqua-theatre.
The building structure follows the architectural concept of a crashing wave, incorporating 8,000 square meters of space dedicated to aquatic exhibits.

Marine museums present the history of seafaring, scientific exploration of the oceans, and the diversity of marine life. These institutions display ship models, nautical instruments, aquariums with living sea creatures, and exhibitions about oceanography. Visitors learn about historical voyages of discovery, modern ocean research, and the protection of marine ecosystems. Notable examples include the Oceanogràfic in Valencia with its various marine biotopes, the National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam with its collection on Dutch naval history, and the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, founded in 1910. The Maritime Museum of San Diego preserves historic vessels, while the Museum of Oceanography in Sopot documents Baltic Sea research. These museums combine scientific education with the fascination for seas and oceans.
Architecture does not have to follow straight lines and right angles. This collection presents buildings that stand out through their form: domes, spirals, tilted facades or organic structures that recall animals or plants. From Gaudí's mosaic covered works in Barcelona to the stacked concrete cubes of Habitat 67 in Montreal or the conical trulli of Alberobello, these structures demonstrate alternative approaches to construction. Some emerged from technical necessity, such as the temporary cardboard cathedral in Christchurch after the 2011 earthquake. Others are artistic statements: the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao with its titanium plates, the Dancing House in Prague or the cubist houses in Rotterdam. In Đà Lạt, the Crazy House transforms tree trunks and caves into habitable spaces, while the Atomium in Brussels represents a magnified iron crystal. These structures attract visitors but also raise questions about function and livability. The Longaberger Basket Building in Ohio takes the form of a seven story basket. The Lotus Temple in New Delhi uses concrete shells to form 27 petals. The Aldar headquarters in Abu Dhabi resembles a circular coin. These buildings expand the definition of what architecture can be.
