St Matthew's, Westminster, Gothic Revival church building in Westminster, England
The stone church features pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and intricate stained glass windows designed by W.E. Tower throughout its spacious interior.
Architect George Gilbert Scott constructed the building between 1849 and 1851 to accommodate overflow from St John the Evangelist Church in Smith Square.
The interior houses fourteen Stations of the Cross sculptures by Joseph Cribb, offering spaces for meditation and prayer throughout the year.
The church maintains daily services with morning prayer, evening prayer, and lunchtime mass at 12:30 pm on weekdays for local congregation members.
A fire in 1977 destroyed most of the structure, yet the Lady Chapel survived, and restored stained glass figures were integrated into new settings.
