St Michael and All Angels Church, Marden

St Michael and All Angels Church is a parish church in Marden that brings together construction elements from different periods. The building combines sandstone and other natural stones with a tiled roof, and the tower features a white painted upper section.

The building was created in the early 1200s. Over time, various architectural features such as pointed arches were added during the 1300s and other structural changes were made.

The church is named after Archangel Michael and all angels. Visitors can see the decorative stained glass windows created by Patrick Reyntiens in the 1960s, which fill the interior with colored light.

This is a Grade I listed building, so visitors should enter respectfully and remember this is an active place of worship. You can explore the interior, but be aware that regular services take place throughout the week.

In the churchyard stand old wooden stocks, a historical structure once used to discipline offenders. These rare remains show how the community maintained order in earlier times.
