Kindrochit Castle, Medieval castle ruins in Braemar, Scotland

The remains of Kindrochit Castle include stone foundations measuring 19.3 by 13 meters, situated along the banks of Clunie Water in Aberdeenshire.

Between 1371 and 1388, King Robert II used Kindrochit Castle as a hunting lodge, issuing royal charters from this location in the Scottish Highlands.

The castle name comes from Gaelic language origins, marking it as part of the linguistic heritage of medieval Scottish fortifications in Aberdeenshire.

The castle ruins remain open throughout the year, with nearby Braemar village offering various services for visitors exploring the historical site.

Excavations in the 1920s uncovered evidence of a grand hall spanning 30 by 9 meters with defensive square towers at each corner.
