Plas yn Rhiw, Manor house in Aberdaron, Wales
Plas yn Rhiw is a two-story stone manor house situated on a hillside with views across Porth Neigwl bay. The building preserves traditional Welsh architectural features and is now cared for by the National Trust.
The building was constructed in the 17th century during a period of Viking raids on Welsh coasts. It later served as a private residence for successive Welsh families over the following centuries.
The interior displays furnishings and artwork reflecting different periods of Welsh domestic life through the centuries. These objects show how residents adapted their homes and daily routines across generations.
The property is open on specific days from March through November. The gardens can be explored on foot with paths leading to coastal viewing areas where you can rest and take in the views.
The gardens feature box hedges arranged in geometric patterns, creating a formal design that contrasts with informal woodland paths nearby. This blend of structured and natural spaces offers different ways to experience the surroundings.
