Wycombe Summit, Former dry ski slope in High Wycombe, United Kingdom.
Wycombe Summit was an artificial ski slope in High Wycombe with a downhill run of about 300 meters, making it one of England's larger facilities of its kind. The site included a ski school, equipment rental, and a lodge building that served as a meeting point and base for visitors.
The facility opened in 1994 and quickly faced financial difficulties, accumulating about 2 million pounds in debt that led to insolvency in 2003. Following this period, SnowDome Group took over operations before the site eventually closed in 2005.
The ski center provided winter sports training facilities for residents of Buckinghamshire and neighboring counties until its closure in 2005.
Access to the abandoned site is difficult as it is overgrown with wild vegetation and poses structural hazards. Visitors should note that no facilities remain and entry may be restricted or not permitted.
A major fire in 2000 that started in the lodge kitchen severely damaged the main building and contributed to long-term operational problems. Only one wall of the building remained after the fire and continues to mark the appearance of the abandoned site.
