Sennybridge Training Area, Military training facility in Powys, Wales
The Sennybridge Training Area spans 31,000 acres across a high plateau with small ponds, peat bogs, and deep river valleys in central Wales.
The War Office acquired this land in 1939, transforming it into the third largest military training ground in the United Kingdom.
The area contains numerous prehistoric and medieval settlement sites, revealing centuries of agricultural and human presence before its military use.
When military activities occur, red flags during daylight and red lights at night indicate restricted access according to the Sennybridge Byelaws.
The Epynt Way, a designated route around the training area perimeter, allows public recreation while maintaining military operational requirements.
