Bourne Castle, Medieval castle ruins in Bourne, Lincolnshire, England.
Bourne Castle comprises the remains of a fortified site in Lincolnshire with two rectangular sections divided by a circular pond. The western section still displays raised earthen banks several meters high that are clearly visible from ground level.
The castle was established during the Norman period as an important fortified possession. The site was eventually abandoned and now survives only as earthwork remains.
The site shows evidence of continuous occupation through pottery fragments found from different centuries. The layout with its two sections reflects how people arranged their living and working spaces over time.
The site is accessible on foot from Bourne town center and located near the main roads through town. Walking across the grounds is straightforward, though the terrain is uneven in places.
Roman coins have been discovered at the site, including rare examples from various imperial periods. These finds suggest the area was settled long before the castle was built.
