Cape Wrath Lighthouse, Category A listed lighthouse in Highland, Scotland
The white cylindrical lighthouse rises 20 meters above the cliffs at the northwestern point of mainland Britain, featuring a black lantern at its summit.
Robert Stevenson designed and constructed this maritime safety structure in 1828, establishing the first permanent navigational aid in this remote section of Scottish coast.
The lighthouse complex includes former signal buildings constructed by Lloyd's of London, representing a significant period of maritime communication infrastructure development.
Access requires an 11-mile journey across a military firing range, with transportation available only during periods when no military exercises occur.
The lighthouse beam flashes four white lights every 30 seconds through a first-order Fresnel lens system, reaching vessels up to 22 nautical miles at sea.
