Sartorial Contemporary Art, Contemporary art museum in Kings Cross, London.
Sartorial Contemporary Art occupies a restored Georgian building on Argyle Square, displaying rotating exhibitions of paintings, sculptures, and digital installations throughout its rooms. The collection changes regularly to showcase new artistic positions and contemporary voices.
Gretta Sarfaty Marchant founded the museum in 2005 on Kensington Church Street before it relocated to Kings Cross in October 2008. The move placed the institution in a more central location within the city.
The publication The Rebel connects exhibition themes with broader artistic discussions in London's contemporary art scene four times each year. Visitors can engage with these conversations through both the displayed works and related materials throughout the space.
The museum is located near Kings Cross Station and is open to visitors during daytime hours. Since exhibitions change regularly, returning at different times of year offers fresh things to see.
In 2008 the museum presented the Mothers exhibition, where over 100 artists including Grayson Perry and the Chapman brothers created works as tributes to their mothers. This landmark show demonstrated the institution's ability to bring together well-known names for unexpected conceptual projects.
