Market Hall Museum, Local history museum in Market Hall, Warwick, England
The Market Hall Museum occupies a Grade II listed building featuring wide arches and an open ground floor layout in Warwick's town center. The collections include archaeological finds, geological specimens, and natural history items connected to the Warwickshire region.
The institution was founded in 1836 when the Warwickshire Natural History and Archaeological Society began its collection efforts. It developed its holdings of animal, plant, and mineral specimens over many decades.
The building takes its name from the market that once filled this space, reflecting Warwick's trading heritage. Visitors can sense how the structure has served as a gathering place for the community over time.
Entry to the museum is free and it is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00. Guided tours are available throughout the week if you want a more detailed look at the collections.
The collection features the skeleton of a Giant Irish Deer named Oisin and remains of the Wilmcote Plesiosaur. A standout piece is the Sheldon Tapestry Map, a historical wool embroidery depicting Warwickshire.
