St Vincent's Church, Caythorpe, Gothic church in Caythorpe, England
St Vincent's Church is a Gothic church building in Caythorpe featuring an unusual double nave design separated by octagonal columns. The tower rises approximately 156 feet (47 meters) above the Lincolnshire landscape.
The church was built around 1250 and underwent major reconstruction after lightning damaged its spire in 1859. Architect George Gilbert Scott oversaw the rebuilding work that shaped its current form.
The Arnhem Aisle inside honors members of the First Airborne Divisional Signals who were stationed in the village before their World War II deployment, with memorial services held each September.
The church is most accessible during regular service times when it is open to visitors and the interior is fully available for viewing. It is best to check local opening times beforehand, as conditions can vary throughout the year.
The church features a rare double-nave arrangement with a two-and-a-half-bay arcade, making it one of only four such structures in England. This unusual architectural design is something you will seldom encounter in other English churches.
