Church of St Peter and St Paul, Belton, Medieval parish church in Belton, England.
The Church of St Peter and St Paul is a stone building with a distinctive tall central tower topped by four corner spirelets. Inside, it contains numerous funerary monuments and gravestones lining the walls, spanning many centuries of burials.
Construction began around 1200, with the tower built earlier in the 12th century. The building was expanded in both the 14th and 18th centuries, shaping the structure you see today.
The church is deeply tied to the Brownlow family, with memorials throughout that tell the story of their 400 years in the area. Walking through, you sense how central this family's life has been to the community around it.
You can reach the church through the Belton House gardens. Access is available Wednesday to Sunday from 10:30 AM to 5 PM, but only during the April to October season.
The church houses five bells that were restored with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2021. This restoration brought back the bells' historic sound that had not been heard in this form for decades.
