St Leonards Tower, Medieval tower in Newton Abbot, England.

The stone tower rises 60 feet high with two distinct stages marked by moulded string courses and features twin arched windows on each face.

Built in the 13th century by Torre Abbey monks, the structure served as a chapel until 1836 when the nave was demolished for road expansion.

In 1688, the tower became the location for the first English proclamation announcing Prince William of Orange's claim to the throne.

The tower opens for visitors from mid-May to September on Wednesdays between 10 AM and 1 PM, with additional Saturday openings during town events.

Local citizens organized a successful petition in 1836 to preserve the tower when authorities planned to demolish the entire structure for road improvements.
