The Guildhall, Grade II* listed building in Chard, England
The Guildhall stands as a T-shaped structure built with Hamstone from Ham Hill, featuring a Doric portico with Tuscan columns at its entrance.
Construction of the new Guildhall began in 1834 to replace a 16th-century building, with the foundation stone laid on December 20th of that year.
The building serves as Chard's central venue for conferences, concerts, fairs, and community gatherings, maintaining its role in local social activities.
The Guildhall houses the Chard Town Council offices and welcomes visitors to various events, including regular meetings of local organizations.
The building's weather vane, measuring 7 feet in height and weighing 32 stone, required specialized restoration work in spring 2002.
