Horkstow Roman Villa, Roman villa archaeological site in Horkstow, England.
The Roman villa complex includes remains of extensive floor mosaics measuring fifteen meters by six meters, featuring three distinct decorative panels.
Laborers discovered the villa in 1797 while preparing a kitchen garden, uncovering a substantial Romano-British mosaic dating from the fourth century.
The mosaic panels include depictions of Orpheus and scenes from classical mythology, representing the integration of Roman art in British territories.
The original mosaics from the villa are now housed in the Hull and East Riding Museum, where visitors can examine their intricate details.
Geophysical surveys conducted in 1987 identified additional structural features beneath the surface, suggesting the presence of unexplored buildings.
