St Dyfnog's Church, Medieval church in Llanrhaeadr-yng-Nghinmeirch, Wales
St Dyfnog's Church is a limestone church in a Welsh village with two side sections, a south chamber, and a four-story tower. The tower features sandstone details and the roofs are covered with slate.
The church was founded in 1254 and underwent major rebuilding in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. These periods show how the building grew over time with support from the village community.
The Tree of Jesse Window shows the family line of Christ through colored glass made in the Tudor era. This artwork tells religious stories through images that visitors discover when entering the church.
The church is an active place of worship and open to visitors who want to see the interior layout. It helps to check beforehand if services are happening at your visit time or if guided visits are available.
During the English Civil War, the congregation buried the Jesse Window to protect it from destruction. After the conflict ended, they restored it to its original place in 1661.
