Castello Scaligero in Torri del Benaco

Castello Scaligero in Torri del Benaco is a medieval fortress with three defensive towers, a central keep, and fortified walls that overlook Lake Garda and the old harbor below. The structure now functions as a museum with multiple exhibition spaces where visitors can explore collections related to the area's past.

The fortress was founded in the 10th century under King Berengar and received its current form through major renovations in the late 1300s. These works transformed it into one of the area's strongest defensive structures.

The castle now houses displays about local fishing methods and lemon growing, both traditional to this lakeside community. These exhibits reveal how people made their living and what the land provided for generations.

The building is open to visitors most days and contains exhibition spaces across multiple levels to explore. Allow time to see the various collections and take in the views from the tower areas.

The castle contains a working lemon greenhouse from the 1700s that visitors can actually step inside and explore. This preserved structure shows how citrus trees were protected and cultivated in this region.
