Museo nazionale della Siritide

The National Archaeological Museum of Siritide displays artifacts from the ancient Greek colonies of Siris and Herakleia in chronological order from Neolithic to Roman times.

The museum, inaugurated in 1969, contains funeral objects from 2000 BCE found in Tursi and Mycenaean ceramics dating back to 1200 BCE.

The exhibition includes red-figure vases depicting Greek mythology, gold filigree jewelry from local workshops, and amber ornaments originating from the Baltic Sea.

The museum maintains regular hours from 9:00 to 20:00 Monday and Wednesday through Sunday, with Tuesday hours from 14:00 to 20:00.

The museum holds the Tomb of the Policoro Painter from the late 5th century BCE, containing exceptional decorated vessels with mythological scenes.
