The facility maintains 110 animal species and 2,600 plant varieties across its grounds, including giraffes, rhinoceroses, and the Arabian oryx.
The zoo relocated to its current location in 1953 after its original site near East Park closed during World War II in 1944.

Entrance fees are 600 yen for adults and 300 yen for high school students, while children under middle school age enter without charge.
