Kameari Park, Urban park in Katsushika, Japan
Kameari Park is a public urban park in Katsushika ward, Tokyo, with walking paths, open grassy areas, and play equipment for children. It sits just outside the north exit of Kameari Station, making it a central point in the neighborhood.
The park was created by Katsushika ward as a public space for local residents and quickly became a gathering point for the community. Over time, its name gained wider recognition after a long-running manga series included it directly in its title.
The park is closely tied to the manga series "Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen-mae Hashutsujou", one of the longest-running manga series in Japan, set in this very neighborhood. Visitors who know the series can recognize familiar scenes from the comic as they walk around.
The park is within a short walk of the north exit of Kameari Station, making it easy to reach without any extra planning. The terrain is flat and open, so getting around the whole area on foot takes only a few minutes.
Two bronze statues of the manga character Ryo-san stand in the park, one showing him with a double peace sign and the other seated on a bench. The seated figure looks natural enough that visitors sometimes take a moment to realize it is a statue.
