Sanctuary of San Pellegrino in Alpe, Mountain sanctuary in Castiglione di Garfagnana, Italy.
The Catholic church complex stands at 1525 meters elevation, incorporating both religious structures and a former pilgrim hostel within its mountain setting.
A papal document from 1168 first mentions this sanctuary, which received the relics of Saint Pellegrino around 1200 and underwent reconstruction in 1908.
The sanctuary contains a marble sepulchral monument created by sculptor Matteo Civitali in 1473 to house the remains of Saints Pellegrino and Bianco.
The facility maintains weather monitoring equipment that provides regular updates on temperature, humidity, and wind conditions for visitors and meteorological purposes.
According to records, the sanctuary originated when two people from Modena discovered Saint Pellegrino's body in a hollow tree, guided by an angel.
