Chiesa San Agostino

Chiesa San Agostino is a Gothic church building in Montefalco with a striking facade of pink and white stone featuring a portal decorated with alternating colored columns. Inside, an additional nave contains six separate bay sections for visitors to explore.

Construction of this church began in 1275 when Augustinian friars received land from the municipality and was completed in 1285 by Brother Angelo de' Conti da Foligno. A bell tower collapse in 1489 led to a rebuilding with reduced height.

The church displays Gothic features with colored stone elements from the local quarry that shape the appearance of the historic center. Visitors see this characteristic stonework today as they walk through the narrow streets of Montefalco.

The building is located in the center of Montefalco at a central address that is easy to reach on foot. Its position on the main street offers convenient access to other parts of the old town.

A fresco painted in a nearby church during the 15th century shows how the building appeared after its collapse. This artwork preserves an important visual record of a major moment in the place's history.
