Ostiglia-Revere bridge, Railway bridge in Province of Mantua, Italy
The Ostiglia-Revere bridge is a steel railway crossing over the Po River in the Province of Mantua. The structure connects the two municipalities through rail lines and allows regular train traffic across its approximately 510-meter length.
Built in 1909, the bridge created a new railway connection between major cities in northern Italy. The project was part of the modernization of the regional rail network in the early 20th century.
The bridge functions as part of the extensive network of Po River crossings, integrating regional communities and facilitating economic development.
The bridge is accessible to train passengers from the stations in both municipalities and operates during regular service hours. Visitors can best view the structure from the riverbanks or from trains, as direct pedestrian access is not available.
The bridge was engineered with a design that allowed both train traffic and other forms of movement, which was innovative for its time. This technical solution demonstrated advanced engineering practices of the early 20th century.
