Japan Oni Exchange Museum

The Japan Oni Exchange Museum showcases an extensive collection of traditional demon masks, artifacts, and exhibits from Japanese folklore and global demon mythology.

The museum, designed by architect Kiyoshi Kawasaki, opened in April 1993 at the foot of Mount Oe, a location linked to ancient Japanese demon legends.

The exhibitions explain the complex relationship between Japanese society and oni demons, which are seen as both threatening entities and protective spirits.

Located near Oe Station, the museum charges 320 yen for adults, 210 yen for high school students, and 160 yen for younger students, with special rates for groups.

The museum organizes an annual demon certification exam where participants test their knowledge about Japanese demon folklore and worldwide supernatural creatures.
