Yangpyeong Yongmunsa Ginkgo Tree, Ancient ginkgo tree at Yongmunsa Temple in Yangpyeong County, South Korea.

The ginkgo tree stands 42 meters tall with a trunk circumference of 14 meters and branches extending 28 meters in both directions.

The tree was planted approximately 1,100 years ago during the Unified Silla period and received an official government rank during the Joseon Dynasty under King Sejong.

Local traditions connect the tree to Prince Maui, the last crown prince of Silla, who allegedly planted it while traveling to Mount Geumgang after losing his kingdom.

The tree continues to produce fruit and maintains strong vitality despite its age, with protective stone structures supporting its growing space at the base.

During the Japanese invasion, when soldiers set fire to the temple complex, the ginkgo tree remained untouched and unharmed by the flames.
