Gaseopsan

Gaseopsan is a 710 meter summit near Chungju with several hiking trails that wind through thick forest cover. The routes reach viewpoints where visitors can see across the landscape of North Chungcheong Province.

The mountain is part of the Sobaek mountain range that spans central South Korea and has held long-standing importance in North Chungcheong. This geographic position shaped its significance within the province's terrain.

Local visitors observe traditional Korean mountain rituals at specific locations along the routes, continuing practices that have been part of the region for generations. These activities show how the natural landscape remains connected to spiritual beliefs in everyday community life.

Hikers can reach the mountain through several marked paths from Chungju city, with resting places located approximately every kilometer. The trails are well signposted and offer regular spots to pause during the climb.

The summit stands as the most prominent peak among 57 summits in Eumseong-gun district, and from its top visitors can see the nearby Gugmangsan peak. This sight links two important local mountains in a single view.
