Bettendorf Castle

Bettendorf Castle is a Baroque structure in eastern Luxembourg featuring a distinctive corner tower and ornamental details from the 1700s. The building's design reflects the architectural tastes of its era with symmetrical facades and carefully crafted stone elements.

The castle was built in 1728 replacing an earlier fortress from the 1200s and served as a residence for noble families including the d'Olimart and von Puttkamer lines. These families shaped the property's development and maintained it as a private seat for generations.

The castle represents Luxembourg's architectural heritage through its Baroque design, earning recognition as a classified national monument in 2007.

The building is private property located on the left bank and is not open for interior visits. You can view and photograph the exterior from public paths and surrounding areas.

The structure underwent comprehensive restoration in 1962 that carefully preserved the original Baroque details and embellishments. This work ensured the authenticity of period features remained intact for visitors to see today.
