Clemency Castle, Renaissance château in Clemency, Luxembourg.
Clemency Castle is a residential fortress standing beside the church, combining Renaissance and Baroque architectural details with restored stone walls and period windows. Today it operates as a guest house, allowing visitors to stay overnight in a historical setting.
Johann Ferdinand von Blanchard built the castle in 1665 using materials salvaged from an earlier fortress located about 30 meters away from its current position. This reconstruction at a new site next to the church established its present location and connection to the religious building.
The castle displays how Renaissance and Baroque styles merged in Luxembourg's noble residences, creating spaces that reveal changing architectural preferences over time. Walking through the rooms, you notice how each generation left its mark on the walls and decorations.
The castle operates as a guest house with private rooms, shared kitchen facilities, and outdoor terraces where visitors can relax. Staying here provides a practical base for exploring the surrounding area around Käerjeng.
Each room contains authentic period furniture specifically chosen to reflect different historical themes throughout the building. This thematic approach lets visitors experience various historical periods while staying in different parts of the castle.
