Конгазьке водосховище, водосховище в Молдові
Kongaz Reservoir is a water storage body in Gagauzia near the Comrat District, fed by the upper reaches of the Yalpug River. The water is enclosed by flat, open banks with gentle slopes and stretches across several kilometers with a width of less than one kilometer.
The reservoir was created in 1961 by damming the Yalpug River and has served for water storage and irrigation ever since. The earth dam stretches over 700 meters in length and stands over 10 meters high, becoming a permanent part of the region's water management system.
The reservoir takes its name from the nearby village of Kongaz and holds a significant place in the daily life of residents. It serves as both a water source and a gathering spot where locals come to fish, relax, and connect with their natural surroundings.
The reservoir is easily accessible on foot with flat paths along the banks suitable for walking and fishing. Small benches and resting spots are scattered along the shore where visitors can sit and enjoy views, particularly during early mornings or late evenings.
The reservoir is known for its fish population, particularly silver carp, common carp, and white amur, which are bred by local fishermen. These species are adapted to local conditions and provide an important income source for many residents in the surrounding area.
