The town hall stands on Dam street with a stone facade featuring architectural elements representative of 1940s Dutch municipal construction.
Architect Alexander Kropholler designed this governmental structure in 1941, during a period of architectural modernization in Dutch municipalities.
The building holds the status of Rijksmonument, marking its recognition within the Dutch national heritage preservation system.
The town hall maintains regular office hours for administrative services and includes meeting spaces for local government functions.
In 2023, six valuable paintings were stolen from the building and later returned through the intervention of art detective Arthur Brand.
