Julianasluis

Julianasluis is a lock in Gouda that connects the Hollandsche IJssel and Gouwe waterways. It measures about 115 meters in length and has a threshold depth of about 4.4 meters, allowing medium-sized vessels to pass through.

The lock was constructed between 1932 and 1936 and has since become an important structure for navigation in this region. It was equipped with modern roller gates and electromechanical drive systems to control water flow.

This lock demonstrates Dutch engineering expertise in water management and serves as a protected monument. Its mechanical systems and architectural design shape regional navigation and reflect the importance of this waterway for transport in the area.
