Oud-Reemst

Oud-Reemst is a small rural settlement near Ede located where Oud-Reemsterlaan and Harderwijkerweg meet. It holds just a handful of farms set within heathlands and forests that give the place a quiet, countryside feel.

The place was originally called simply Reemst, but gained the prefix 'Oud' meaning old when a new settlement of the same name was established elsewhere. This change helped distinguish the two communities as they developed along separate paths.

The scattered farms here are built in traditional Dutch style and sit among fields and forests. Local residents continue to work the land with cattle and crops, practices that have shaped daily life in this corner of the region.

The hamlet is easy to reach via the main roads and offers access to walking paths in the surrounding area. From here, visitors can explore the nearby Hoge Veluwe National Park, which has plenty of trails for walking and cycling.

The place is home to around 40 residents living in just 21 houses, making it one of the smallest and most sparsely inhabited spots in the region. This extreme quietness lets visitors experience a kind of solitude that is hard to find elsewhere.
