Stoom Stichting Nederland

Stoom Stichting Nederland is a museum housing a collection of steam locomotives and railway equipment in a dedicated facility with workshop areas and exhibition spaces. The site contains both stationary display pieces and operational engines used for regular train services.

The foundation was established in 1976 and expanded its operations in 1998 to add more exhibits and educational programs. This growth allowed it to showcase broader railway history and serve more visitors with deeper learning opportunities.

The foundation arranges regular steam train journeys across Dutch railway lines, reconnecting travelers with how people once moved between cities by rail.

The museum is located in Rotterdam and offers guided tours, a café for refreshments, and a shop for railway souvenirs. Visitors can explore outdoor areas in good weather or spend time in covered exhibition spaces when conditions are less favorable.

The organization runs the SSN Christmas Express, offering special seasonal train journeys from Rotterdam to destinations like Valkenburg or Maastricht during the holiday period. These themed excursions bring together railway heritage and festive family fun.
