The church features a triangular hall design with a late Gothic west tower and two portal annexes on the northern side.
The church underwent substantial reconstruction from 1959 to 1969, followed by additional renovations between 2005 and 2009 to maintain its structure.
The dedication to Saint Nicholas, patron saint of sailors and merchants, reflects the maritime heritage of this Dutch trading region.
