Heilige Nicolaaskerk, Catholic church in Edam, Netherlands
The Heilige Nicolaaskerk features a Neoclassical facade with a small tower and follows the design principles of traditional hall churches.
Following the departure of Catholics from the Grote Kerk, a chapel was built between 1611 and 1614 on the site where the current rectory garden stands.
The church maintains regular religious services and remains an essential center for the Catholic community of Edam since its consecration in 1827.
Located at Voorhaven 124 in Edam, the church stands in the center of town and received official recognition as a Rijksmonument heritage site in 1967.
The building underwent substantial modifications to accommodate 1,500 worshippers from Edam and Volendam, leading to a major expansion project in 1846.
