Sint Dominicus

Sint Dominicus is a Roman Catholic church in Tiel featuring brick construction and a prominent tower located at Sint Walburgkerkpad, designed by architect Johannes van Halteren. The building accommodates community gatherings and liturgical services with various interior spaces.

The current building replaced a church constructed in 1861 that burned in 1938, and its tower sustained heavy damage during the liberation of Tiel in 1945. Following these events, the structure was rebuilt and has remained central to the community since then.

The church houses five different choirs, including Soli Deo Gloria, which was established in 1911 and continues to sustain musical traditions in the community.

The building underwent comprehensive renovation in 2010 to address major structural problems with the roof and drainage system that originated during World War II. These extensive repairs secured the stability and longevity of the structure for future generations.
