Tower of Siza, Residential tower in Céramique district, Maastricht, Netherlands.
The Tower of Siza is a residential building with 17 floors in the Céramique district that houses around 40 apartments in different layouts. Its facade features large windows designed to bring natural light deep into the units.
The building was designed by Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira and completed in 2001. It was part of a major project that transformed the former industrial Céramique site into a new residential neighbourhood.
The tower marks how the Céramique neighbourhood shifted from factory work to contemporary residential living. Its modern design reflects the area's transformation and shows how older industrial spaces have gained new purposes.
The complex provides underground parking for residents and uses a district heating system for efficient heating throughout the building. Automated blinds on all windows protect against wind and strong sunlight.
The top four floors contain premium apartments with upgraded finishes and a penthouse that overlooks the Meuse River and Maastricht skyline. These higher units offer views that reveal the relationship between the building and its surrounding landscape.
