Huis te Winssen, Historic castle in Beuningen, Netherlands.
Huis te Winssen was a medieval fortified castle located near the river, surrounded by moats and featuring a square residential tower and a round defensive tower.
Built in the 14th century by the Van Winssen family, the castle was destroyed in 1584 by Spanish troops, then rebuilt before its final demolition in 1815.
The castle served as an administrative and judicial center for surrounding farming communities, symbolizing the power and prestige of the local medieval nobility.
Although the castle has been completely demolished, the site can be visited and historical information is available through local heritage documentation.
The only visual records of the castle come from two detailed drawings created by Cornelis Pronk in 1732, preserving its appearance before demolition.
