کويګين, Recreation area in Hamar, Norway
Koigen is a recreation area on the shore of Lake Mjøsa, featuring sandy beaches, volleyball courts, and basketball facilities. The site includes an artificial island that extends the beach space and provides room for various water activities.
Koigen was developed to transform an unused waterfront into a central recreation spot. This project connected Hamar's city center with Lake Mjøsa and turned the area into a popular gathering place.
During summer months, this location becomes a social hub where locals and visitors swim, play sports, and gather for outdoor fun. The beaches and courts shape the feel of an active, community-focused waterfront.
The area has barbecue spots, exercise equipment, and children's play facilities, with food vendors operating during the summer season. The location is easy to reach and offers all the amenities needed for a day by the water.
The artificial island was designed as an innovative solution to expand beach capacity without disrupting natural habitats. It creates separate zones for different water activities and gives the lake an unexpected structure.
