The two-nave brick building features Renaissance elements, including a barrel vault ceiling supported by Tuscan columns and an ornate stone holy ark.
Established around 1500 by Czech Jews settling in Krakow, the synagogue underwent reconstruction in 1570 with permission from King Sigismund III Vasa.
The synagogue houses permanent exhibitions about Jewish customs, religious objects, and the rich history of the Jewish community in medieval Krakow.
Visitors can explore the Jewish Museum exhibitions from Monday between 10:00 and 14:00, and Tuesday through Sunday between 10:00 and 17:00.
During World War II, German forces executed 30 Polish citizens in front of the synagogue, commemorated today by a memorial plaque.
