Description
The Kowea Itim le-Tora Synagogue is a brick building at 42 Józefa Street with Hebrew inscriptions and two Stars of David on its facade. It now contains residential apartments while preserving the original architectural details from its construction period.
History
Construction began in 1810, followed by a major renovation in 1912 under architect Łazarz Rock. The building functioned as a prayer house for the community until World War II began in 1939.
Culture
The name refers to a society dedicated to regular Torah study, showing how this building served as a center for community learning and religious practice. Members gathered here to deepen their knowledge of sacred texts together.
