Cathedral Cemetery in Łomża, Religious cemetery in Łomża, Poland
The Cathedral Cemetery extends across 6.6 hectares and contains more than 560 historical tombstones displaying different architectural and artistic styles.
Established in 1801 outside the city limits, the cemetery initially served Roman Catholics before expanding to include Protestant and Orthodox sections in the 1830s.
The cemetery preserves gravestones of notable citizens, including botanist Jakub Waga, writer Feliks Bernatowicz, and numerous officials, merchants, and craftsmen from past centuries.
The cemetery remains accessible through its monumental gate constructed in 1879, located on Kopernika Street in the northern part of Łomża.
The gravestones exhibit Classical, Neo-Gothic, and Neo-Renaissance designs, reflecting the architectural preferences of different periods throughout the 19th century.
