Castle in Kowalewo Pomorskie

The castle in Kowalewo Pomorskie is a Gothic fortress ruin featuring partially preserved foundation walls and at least one stone pillar decorated with Gothic arches from the late 14th century. The remains sit on a hill between two lakes and outline where the original defensive structure once stood.

The fortification was built between 1300 and 1330 by the Teutonic Knights on the site of an earlier wooden stronghold. During conflicts between the Knights and Polish forces, the castle changed hands several times and became involved in regional peace negotiations.
